MAGNET is a membership organization for young professionals in the greater Madison area. We are dedicated to attracting, cultivating and retaining the brightest and most talented YP's in the nation. Mission: MAGNET will attract and retain talent to the greater Madison area by understanding and addressing the needs of the next generation of leaders. MAGNET will address these needs by providing professional development, civic involvement, public policy, and social and cultural opportunities target at people in their 20s and 30s and early 40s in order to increase their involvement in, connections to, and commitments to each other and the community at large. Vision: MAGNET will make greater Madison a more vibrant, diverse, inclusive and productive community by attracting and retaining a wealth of talent that chooses to settle here and contribute to the regions’ economic, civic, social, and public policy futures.

Nonprofits and Section 508: Is Your Website Accessible?

In this workshop we will discuss what it means to be an accessible website, what the government mandates (and for whom), what kinds of questions you should be asking your developers to make sure you are accessible, how to move beyond government mandates and what the future holds for accessibility. This workshop is appropriate for the non-technical, but the presenter can answer very technical questions as well. This workshop is one of the Madison Nonprofit Day Technology series. Building Your Website with ExpressionEngine 2.0

Nonprofits need a website for a number of reasons, including: for presence, information distribution, communication, connection with a wider, broader audience, to create an organizational brand, and more. While the debate on “whether or not your nonprofit needs a website has been settled and filed, the debate on which content management system (CMS) is still wide open. There are a multitude of content management systems (CMS), all offering various benefits for you and your organization. This presentation will discuss ExpressionEngine as one of the many CMSs for you to choose from. It will offer a brief comparison to WordPress, Joomla, and Drupal; tips and techniques on choosing a web developer, future proofing your website, and more. This Madison Nonprofit Day workshop is presented by Ben Seigel, exp designs. Ben runs the Madison Web Design & Development Meetup.

Web608 Dinner: Potluck
