Madison's September Ubuntu Hour
Please note that there was a time change starting in August. Ubuntu Hours will no longer be on Sundays, but rather on Saturdays.
Setting in OpenOffice.org messed up? Scared you're going to mess up your partitions?Heard you could get a free operating system, but not sure where to start?
You've come to the right place!
Ubuntu Hours are a time when new users can come and ask questions without being afraid they will be made to feel stupid by experienced users. It's also a time when you won't feel crowded out by other discussions. It may not always be 1-on-1 support, but it will be close and might even be a better ratio!

As for Ubuntu Hour instructors, in the words of Ubuntu Loco leader Anthony Hook:

Ubuntu Lucid Lync 10.04 Release Party and Special Guest
Anthony Hook, the Ubuntu Wisconsin Local Community (LoCo) manager, will be in Madison to discuss the new release, 10.04 Lucid Lynx, the LTS structure and how to get involved with the Ubuntu project.
Also, FREE PIZZA (donations very welcome!) and we'll be trying to play some LAN games...just trying to make it a true release PARTY!
An incredible video of the cross-platform game we'll be playing can be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtJKrIngTIs&fmt=22
It's not the easiest room to find, so please follow the signs. THE ELEVATOR DOES NOT GO TO THIS AREA OF THE BUILDING. DON'T TRY IT!

Hardware Hacking with Beagle Boards
"The Beagle Board is a low-power, low-cost Single-board computer produced by Texas Instruments in association with Digi-Key, designed with open source development in mind, to demonstrate the Texas Instrument's OMAP3530 system-on-a-chip. The board was developed by a small team of TI engineers." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beagle_Board
State of the Union: a discussion of the Madison FOSS community
PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE IN TIME!
If you're seeing this in a group that you think isn't Linux related, I disagree in some way. Typically I am cautious to invite a subset of groups to meetings. However, this is a very important meeting. There are some very basic infrastructure questions like "how long is a president president for" and "when are elections" that currently have no answers. I want answers to these mundane questions, but also, I want to think big picture. Can MadLUG be doing more to help schools and non-profits? Is it proper for MadLUG to engage in non-Linux libre software (FOSS) promotion? What sort of presentation overlap do we have with LOPSA?
