Web414 October 2009 Meeting
Guest: Any Kant of Fox 6
Amy Kant works on the Fox 6 web team... Gabe should fill this in with more info.
We'll also be discussing BarCampMilwaukee4, which was... awesome! Yeah, were you there? Come and talk about it. Did you miss it? Come and find out what you missed...
Our good friends over at C2 Graphics Productivity Solutions, experts in the training of creatives, will be hosting us at their facility. Be sure to thank them for putting up with us.

Half-Integrality based Algorithms for Cosegmentation of Images
June 18, 2009 - 1:18pm | by abraham
This is a practice talk for CVPR 2009.
We study the cosegmentation problem where the objective is to segment the same object (i.e., region) from a pair of images. The segmentation for each image can be cast using a partitioning/segmentation function with an additional constraint that seeks to make the histograms of the segmented regions (based on intensity and texture features) similar. Using Markov Random Field (MRF) energy terms for the simultaneous segmentation of the images together with histogram consistency requirements using the squared \ell_2 (rather than \ell_1 ) distance, after linearization and adjustments, yields a model with some interesting combinatorial properties. The talk will discuss our algorithm, and finally show experimental results of the proposed approach.
This is joint work with Lopa Mukherjee and Chuck Dyer.
