SPECIAL GUEST! Introduction to OpenSUSE by author Mike McCallister
You'll close your Windows, put your Snow Leopard to sleep, and maybe even (gasp!)
unload Ubuntu when you see the beauty of openSUSE Linux!
MadLUG is pleased to have guest speaker Mike McCallister (author of openSUSE Linux Unleashed, WordPress In Depth, etc.) present a demonstration of openSUSE Linux. You will get a broad overview of openSUSE while exploring the visuals, package management and included software of this great Linux distro. In addition to the software, Mike will discuss the openSUSE community and overall strategy.
Bonus! You will also get a detailed demo of KDE 4.5 by an expert who can make it perform minor miracles. If you are a GNOME user, you'll quickly understand why KDE has been getting a lot of attention lately. Existing KDE users can pickup some advanced tips and tricks.

Postgres talk from Josh Berkus
"Josh Berkus has been a member of the PostgreSQL Core Team since 2002. He is CEO of PostgreSQL Experts Inc., a PostgreSQL professional services company. Prior to working on PostgreSQL, he worked with a variety of other software, including OpenOffice.org, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle PL/SQL, and (shudder) COM+. He also does Perl." - http://it.toolbox.com/people/josh_berkus/
I apologize for the short notice, but Josh graciously offered to do a talk while he's in town on business.
Josh suggested a "PostgreSQL talk, or just Q&A." I don't have any more details than that since we've been working on getting a venue and such, so it'll probably be pretty laid back. Some people might even go out for food or drinks afterwards. You never can tell about kids these days.
Please distribute this information as widely as possible. We'd like a good turnout and that might be difficult with short promotional time.

Ubuntu Lucid Lync 10.04 Release Party and Special Guest
Anthony Hook, the Ubuntu Wisconsin Local Community (LoCo) manager, will be in Madison to discuss the new release, 10.04 Lucid Lynx, the LTS structure and how to get involved with the Ubuntu project.
Also, FREE PIZZA (donations very welcome!) and we'll be trying to play some LAN games...just trying to make it a true release PARTY!
An incredible video of the cross-platform game we'll be playing can be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtJKrIngTIs&fmt=22
It's not the easiest room to find, so please follow the signs. THE ELEVATOR DOES NOT GO TO THIS AREA OF THE BUILDING. DON'T TRY IT!
