Postgres talk from Josh Berkus
"Josh Berkus has been a member of the PostgreSQL Core Team since 2002. He is CEO of PostgreSQL Experts Inc., a PostgreSQL professional services company. Prior to working on PostgreSQL, he worked with a variety of other software, including OpenOffice.org, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle PL/SQL, and (shudder) COM+. He also does Perl." - http://it.toolbox.com/people/josh_berkus/
I apologize for the short notice, but Josh graciously offered to do a talk while he's in town on business.
Josh suggested a "PostgreSQL talk, or just Q&A." I don't have any more details than that since we've been working on getting a venue and such, so it'll probably be pretty laid back. Some people might even go out for food or drinks afterwards. You never can tell about kids these days.
Please distribute this information as widely as possible. We'd like a good turnout and that might be difficult with short promotional time.

Zero to 60 Server
Got a beige box setting around? Not sure what all those letters in LAMP mean? Just enticed by sexy car metaphors?
No matter your ill in getting a server set up, come grab some of Eric's magic server elixir. Think of it as a server installfest on steroids. (note: MadLUG does not do random drug testing)
SOME DIFFERENCES: Two things will be different in this meeting than others.
1) It will be hands on. Bring a box...maybe a VirtualBox (TM Oracle - by the way, give us money, please!) Also, please bring media. We'll have some install disks but unless you want whatever we randomly give you, best to have your own.

Madison's September Ubuntu Hour
Please note that there was a time change starting in August. Ubuntu Hours will no longer be on Sundays, but rather on Saturdays.
Setting in OpenOffice.org messed up? Scared you're going to mess up your partitions?Heard you could get a free operating system, but not sure where to start?
You've come to the right place!
Ubuntu Hours are a time when new users can come and ask questions without being afraid they will be made to feel stupid by experienced users. It's also a time when you won't feel crowded out by other discussions. It may not always be 1-on-1 support, but it will be close and might even be a better ratio!

As for Ubuntu Hour instructors, in the words of Ubuntu Loco leader Anthony Hook:

Ubuntu Lucid Lync 10.04 Release Party and Special Guest
Anthony Hook, the Ubuntu Wisconsin Local Community (LoCo) manager, will be in Madison to discuss the new release, 10.04 Lucid Lynx, the LTS structure and how to get involved with the Ubuntu project.
Also, FREE PIZZA (donations very welcome!) and we'll be trying to play some LAN games...just trying to make it a true release PARTY!
An incredible video of the cross-platform game we'll be playing can be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtJKrIngTIs&fmt=22
It's not the easiest room to find, so please follow the signs. THE ELEVATOR DOES NOT GO TO THIS AREA OF THE BUILDING. DON'T TRY IT!

GOT LINUX MADNESS???
Join us at the Great Dane Fitchburg as we set our distro brackets. Will Ubuntu's fans in the stands be able to cheer them to victory? Will Fedora's fast paced development speed them past competitors? Will Slackware's senior leadership have what it takes to overcome their injury problems? With over 100 distros listed at DistroWatch, who will make the Final Four?
The only way to find out is to join us for LINUX MADNESS at the Great Dane in Fitchburg where there will be TVs to catch the Badger game (should they be playing).
