Wisconsin .NET User Group

The Wisconsin .NET Users Group was founded on February 12, 2002 at the launch of Visual Studio.NET. Our mission from inception has been to develop a peer group of developers, architects, and managers who are interested in learning, sharing and growing their Microsoft .NET knowledge and capabilities. The group's vision is to provide members with a forum to hear top industry experts speak, learn and teach others who are interested in the same technologies as you and are facing the same challenges. The Wisconsin .NET Users Group covers the entire spectrum of .NET technologies, including the Windows Server System, XML web services, application development with Visual Studio.NET and the .NET Framework (including web, mobile, and desktop applications.) We are proud to now have over 3,000 members and we have continued to grow stronger each month due to the well-known .NET expert speakers we bring each month, the support of our growing list of sponsors, and the input and interest of each of our members. Come join the .NET community - It's FREE - It's FUN - It's a great way to learn more about .NET!

Surviving the IPocalypse: IPv6, Linux, and You

Everyone who has a presence on the web is going to be forced to more about IPv6 in the coming years. Get ahead of the curve! Quick, grab your smartphone, e-reader, computer and family (in that order), pack some supplies, and head for the hills! (except in Kansas, which is too flat.) The Internet as we currently know it is coming to an end! We're running out of host addresses! In a matter of months, not decades they will all be used up. Are you prepared for the single biggest network event since broadband? Say goodbye to your old friends like 209.85.225.99 and hello to 2001:4860:b007::6a (google.com). The existing IP version 4 numbering system with 32-bit addresses is nearly exhausted. In 2013, the last one will be gone. History! But, there is hope of rescue. It's not the cavalry, it's the Internet protocol version 6, with new-fangled 128-bit addresses, and it will impact every networked digital device, router and service you use. What does this all mean?

Previewing ASP.NET MVC 2

ASP.NET MVC is rapidly transforming the way Web applications are developed using the Microsoft stack of technologies. Its focus on Test Driven Development, and its support for SEO, lightweight HTML and AJAX has fueled its adoption. Even though the first version of ASP.NET MVC was released in early 2009, the team behind the framework is already well into crafting the next version.

The features included in version 2 expand upon an already powerful tool set, giving developers a more mature, more productive platform. It’s an exciting set of new capabilities that is sure to expand the popularity of ASP.NET MVC. This presentation dives right into coding with many of these new features, emphasizing the manner in which they solve common development issues.
